Sony Launches Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Tablet Z2, and Xperia M2

Sony finally launched three new devices at MWC 2014, namely the flagship smartphone Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Tablet Z2, and mid-range smartphone Xperia M2. Both Z2 devices are equipped with waterproof cases, while the Xperia M2 is not equipped with this feature. But the Xperia M2 has enough specs to compete with the Moto G.

  • Sony Xperia Z2
Sony Xperia Z2 is Sony's first flagship smartphone in 2014. This smartphone comes with a Triluminos screen measuring 5.2 inches which has a resolution of 1080p. This smartphone itself is wrapped in an aluminum casing which is quite light and also waterproof because it is equipped with IP58 certification.

In the camera sector, the Xperia Z2 carries a 20.7 MP rear camera with an Exmor RS sensor. Interestingly, the camera is also capable of recording video at a resolution of 4K aka 2160p and slow motion video at a resolution of 720p. The Background Defocus feature has also been included in this camera.

The Sony Xperia Z2 runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system with a minimalistic Sony interface. Unfortunately, this smartphone is only equipped with 16 GB of internal memory. Fortunately there is a MicroSD slot to increase the memory capacity. For the battery, this smartphone is equipped with a 3200 mAh battery that can last for 740 hours of standby time and 19 hours of talk time.

In the engine sector, Xperia Z2 is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset which is an improvement from Snapdragon 800. With a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 and Adreno 330 GPU and 3 GB of RAM, this smartphone can be called one of the flagship smartphones with best performance and worth competing with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

  • Sony Xperia Tablet Z2
The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is the successor of the Xperia Tablet Z which is still equipped with a water and dust resistant casing. This tablet is equipped with a Snapdragon 800 chipset with a quad core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, and 3 GB of RAM. This tablet is also equipped with an 8 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera.

As usual, this tablet will be available in a WiFi version and an LTE version. Both versions are equipped with 16 GB of internal memory and a MicroSD slot. Apart from the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, there are almost no significant changes offered by this tablet compared to the previous series.

  • Sony Xperia M2
The last smartphone to be launched was the Sony Xperia M2, which was previously rumored to be called Xperia G. This smartphone is equipped with a 4.8-inch screen with a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and a density of 229 ppi. Just like other Sony's latest smartphones, this smartphone also carries a very beautiful OmniBalance design.

In the photography sector, this smartphone offers an 8 MP rear camera equipped with an Exmor RS sensor. Besides being able to record videos with 1080p resolution, this camera is also equipped with the Background Defocus and Motiongraph features found on the Sony Xperia Z2 flagship smartphone.

It has an internal memory of 8 GB and can be added with an external MicroSD memory. This smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor like the Moto G, but is also equipped with LTE and NFC connectivity. In addition, this smartphone that runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system is also equipped with MHL and Miracast for video output purposes.

The Sony Xperia M2 is planned to go on sale in April in Indonesia and is priced at 220 Euros or around Rp. 3.5 million. This smartphone itself is available in the same color options as the Sony Xperia Z2, namely white, black, and purple.
